Nudist idea #53: Meditate naked

Meditation and nudity go well together. If you are already meditating, you know that for the best results, you need to be comfortable, sitting or lying. To really feel a better connexion, I really encourage you to meditate wearing nothing at all. Naked meditation is the best.

You will find many sites and apps to teach you how to meditate. The Naked Yoga School has a naked meditation program (you can watch one of their trailers below) that can get you started. Otherwise, you can start by yourself, just abandoning any form of clothing.  The following post will provide some benefits of naked meditation. However, one very key point is to get entirely naked: no glasses, no jewelery, and overall any object that do not belong to your body.

To me there are 3 real benefits of meditating naked:

  1. Nothing is between the air and your body, so your skin can really breathe in and out. I’ve always found easier to visualize my breathing as a whole body experience.
  2. I can relax deeper. This is probably because I feel so good naked, and much better than clothed. You may experience some uncomfort at first if you are not a seasoned nudist, but you will soon really enjoy nudity.
  3. I can touch my body as I go out of my meditation time to regain the necessary attention. Instead of wingling my fingers and toes for instance to end the practice, I caress my body to feel it and reestablish the link with the physical reality.

As a conclusion to this short post, I really think, meditation should always be practiced entirely naked, as it enhances greatly the experience and the benefits of meditation. Thank you for sharing your experiences of mediating naked and you comments below. Nudist idea #47: Go skinny-dipping

Skinny dipping is one of the possible entry point into nudism. Generally, you’re with a group of friends on the shore of a lake or at the sea, in a secluded spot, and one decided to go swim naked. By a ripple effect, all get naked and jump into the water

Image result for skinny dippingA lot of people already went skinny dipping. It’s interesting to read in the Wikipedia article about nude swimming that it was a common practice in a lot of public swimming pool until the early 60’s and is coming back (slowly though) with the advance of naturism.

Image result for skinny dippingGenerally skinny dippers tend to wrap themselves into towels once out of water for modesty. However, if one or two stay naked without towel, it’s a great opening to having more people to stay naked and join nudist activities. If you are a seasoned nudist, grab any opportunity to go skinny dipping and explain to people the many benefits of social nudity and nudism. We all know it’s a great healthy lifestyle and the more the merrier, therefore thank you for sharing your experiences and comments below. Nudist idea #39: Play a tennis match naked

A lot of nudist resorts have tennis courts. Whether you are a confirmed tennis player or not, have a game in your birthday suit. This may be your first sport experience naked. I will swear this will not be your last, as practicing sport is so much fun and comfortable naked.

Image result for naked tennisOf course, you may need a good pair of tennis shoes, a cap and some sun lotion, a racket and tennis balls. Find another player or players if you want to play double, which is even funnier and have a game. You will quickly realize how comfortable it is to wear nothing but a smile. This realization comes with many sports in which garments are really useless. Sports apparel company will sell you fabrics that let your skin breathe… but the best way to let it breathe is to uncover it completely.

So, grab your shoes and your racket, book a court and have a game. Think about sharing your experiences and comments below and remember to Get Naked, Stay Naked, Live Naked and Share the Naked Love!

Nudist idea #37: Go to the hotel gym naked

This one is not easy and not guaranteed of success. However, if you have ever worked out naked, it’s almost a no-brainer, as it’s so comfortable.

Image result for naked gym Of course, you will argue that a hotel gym is a public place that is not open to naturists. Although this is true, it’s still possible to train in your birthday suit. First, the gym may or may not be really used. I’ve been in some hotels where nobody was ever at the gym. In some others, the gym is used during the day, but not at night for instance. In many cases, there are some time where it’s less frequented. And this is what you should ask to reception. Then, let them know that you are a naturist (having your membership card of your naturist federation helps), that you like to workout naked and ask them if you could workout naked, having a towel for hygiene and to wrap up.

Image result for naked gymIn every instances you will have weird glances and you may be told no, but this will never go further than this. In some cases, you will get a yes, only if other people in the gym are OK with this. Of course, you may not ask for permission and go naked. However, since there sometimes are CCTV in the gym, you may be stopped. By asking permission beforehand, you will be able to say that it was granted by the reception or the general management. In all cases, keep a towel as a wrap-up as some people may be upset at you in case they enter the gym while you are naked. Lastly, the experience depends on the place and the time of the day. Prefer late night or very early morning when the gym is empty. However, it’s just another way to spread the social nudism message and spend more time naked.

Nudist idea #26: Sleep naked

This is probably the most obvious idea of all and a good start if you are not nudist to appreciate the comfort of your own body.

I cannot remember the last time I slept wearing something and I cannot imagine sleeping wearing anything. I know that may be a controversial topic as many people love their PJs and cannot imagine being naked, with all those nasty bacterias and their clean soft expensive sheets. However, there are many, many benefits to sleeping naked that have been described extensively by doctors. Just Google “Sleep naked” to find tons of articles and posts on the topic. I even reblogged one: 5 Reasons to Sleep Naked Every Night.

Image result for sleep nakedOne of the many benefits is of course the comfort. If you are a home nudist, no need to get up and undress or dress to go to bed! Just sleep as you are, wake up and prepare your breakfast naked, and that’s it. Same in the evening, have a shower or a hot bath and then go between the sheets as you were, clean and fresh for the night. Another benefit of sleeping naked for non nudists is the introduction to nudism and growing the comfort of being naked. Once you are used to sleep naked, you can start doing naked activities around your home. Finally, once you are used to sleep naked, you will never go back to wearing anything at night!

Nudist idea #25: Negotiate #nudist time with your local gym club

It’s now accepted that daily exercise is good for our health, and a mix of cardio and strength workout is recommended. If you like me, dislike sweating in a t-shirt and short, working out naked is the best solution. However, your local gym may not be open to your naked practice, unless you asked.

In most gyms, there are always time in the day or the evening when there are less people, if any. Of course, the owner will always ask how she can ensure that her facilities are used to the maximum, and this is the conversation you and a couple of fellow nudists could have. Go a meet the owner of your local gym and ask her/him if she/he could offer one or a few spots in the week when you could workout naked.

Of course, you may need to explain what naturism is about, and that you are going to use towels for hygiene, and that of course, there’s nothing sexual in working out naked at the gym. However, let’s face it. It could be a win-win for the gym owner as you may fill up an empty slot, and for you as you will be able to work out naked. If you wonder if this possible, it is happening already in France and the UK, with the Paris naturists who managed to have a gym and swimming pool open for naturists at some time during the week, and the Naked trainer online, who manages to train naked as well. Naked workout is, IMHO, the best way to work out and it’s worth asking your local gym. The worst that can happen? That you get a no…

What does being nude mean to me?

what-does-being-nude-mean-to-me-1-11Here’s a great post from The Nude Blogger: What does being nude mean to me? It’s simple, respectful and full of good sense. If you follow social networks news, you may have heard about the nude blogger, as Jessa’s Instagram account was suspended then reactivated after an uproar of her followers. A great win for body positivity advocates accross the world.

In the What does being nude mean to me article, Jessa goes through her own feelings and sensations. Of course, it’s aligned with how most of us perceive nudism and naturism: freedom. Freedom from the dictatorship of brands. Freedom from the dictatorships of labels. Freedom from materialism. Pure freedom!

However, what resonated very well with me was this sense of vulnerability. I wrote about vulnerability after watching Brené Brown’s TED talk. I think vulnerability is an important aspect of nudism. As we strip down from our clothes, we are exposing to the world who we are. We cannot hide behind conventions anymore. And by exposing ourselves, we become more receptive to others, to the surroundings, to nature.

It’s very difficult to express this sensation of complete vulnerability that leaves us in a complete state of receiving. To quote Jessa:

We are left with this air of vulnerability, something so truthful.

what-does-being-nude-mean-to-me-2-21In the post I encourage you to read, she goes around what vulnerability does for us and for our soul. I hope you will enjoy the post as much as I had because it resonates well with why I believe naturism is an awesome lifestyle, particularly at that time of the human history, clogged with ridiculous expectations, pressure and artficial needs. Of course, we should not become incredulous optimists, but we should strive at making this world a better place, and nudity can surely help!

Nude is the way to practice yoga

Here’s a wonderful article on nagna yoga, that is naked yoga, or yoga practiced sans clothes, written by a yoga and meditation teacher, Alex Myles. Not only the pictures, uncensored to display the glory of the human body, are stunning and awesome, the text is so refreshing on the freedom that nudity procures. Here are some quotes from the article I particularly appreciated.

When practicing yoga I do so fully naked as a way of honoring and uniting each part of myself.

Although being naked has come to feel very unnatural for many, when we are naked we are in our most natural state of being.

Practicing yoga naked is the most liberating, self-loving and self-accepting thing I have ever experienced.

That was one of the greatest lessons I learned—to breathe, accept and let go.

Removing clothing, rather than putting fabric on my skin, to practice yoga seems to me the most natural thing to do.

I see the body as a work of art, an ever changing masterpiece that is an outer reflection of our inner nourishment.

There are many other quotes that resonated deeply. However, the strongest part was the description of the first time Alex got naked and how she fought her feelings of insecurity and the journey of her liberation. It’s a beautiful text on the beauty of nudity I was writing about yesterday, and an calling to practice Yoga, and other sports and activities, naked.
