What I Learned About Body Positivity By Running Naked At A Nudist Ranch

Here’s another great article promoting body positivity and naturism in the mainstream online press: What I Learned About Body Positivity By Running Naked At A Nudist Ranch. The subtitle is “Eventually, I stopped seeing naked people and just saw people.” I would say almost all is said in this subtitle. This says clearly naturism is not about exhibitionism or voyeurism, it’s just about being who we are.

As naturists, we know naturists look at each other in the eyes and do not judge others by their body shape, color, size or any physical trait. This is why I really like this article. Ponder this quote for a moment:

Social nudism isn’t about seeing and proving; it’s about experiencing

Nudist idea #10: Start a #Naturist Nonlanded Club

As per the American Association for Nude Recreation, there are two types of naturist clubs: landed and nonlanded: “The landed club has its own grounds and facilities. It may be luxurious or rustic. Nonlanded club members often meet at a private home or somewhere in their community like the local health club. They may travel together to a landed club.”

You can start your own club at home with a bunch of friends and plan naturist activities. It can be planning a week-end at a naturist club, a naked hike or a naked barbecue at your place. The idea of a nonlanded club is that you create an official naturist club or association that will help organizing more naked activities and regroup more naturists with a common goal.

Image result for nonlanded naturist clubsCreating such a group is easy and you can get more details with your local naturist federation. Once your club is created you can advertise in your local newspaper to recruit new members, inform the community of your activities and lobby to get more official nude spaces, like beaches or trails. Having a club helps to legitimate naturism in your community and helps to inform the public about naturism and its many benefits. By being affiliated to your national naturist federation you will get support and assistance too. Of course, creating such a club necessitates some work and time investment. However, if you are really wanting to increase your nude time and your nudist friends, this is an excellent way to do so.

Nudist Idea #9: Go on a Nakation

Naturism and vacation go well together. A naturist vacation is generally called a nakation (naked vacation). Think about going to a warm area, in the middle of nature or on a tropical sea shore and not having to wear anything but your smile, and you will have a fairly good idea of what a nakation is.

Image result for nakationA while back I wrote 5 reasons why nakation is the best vacation. Those 5 reasons are more valid than ever. Enjoying no tan line is beautiful. However, having to spend time with like-minded people is probably the most enjoyable part of a nakation. In a naturist environnement, everybody will be naked (although newbies can enjoy a first day clothed in some clubs) and you will be able to stay naked the whole holidays. And of course, you will make new friends who can become naturist friends for life opening new opportunities to spend naked time.

Related imageNakations can take many forms. The best is to chose a clothing optional resort. There are many such resorts in the Carribeans, in France, Spain and Greece for beach lovers, or in nature in many countries in the world. Search for naturist travel agents on the internet to find the right spot for your next nakation. Actually, there are so many naturist and clothing optional resorts and clubs that you can spend the rest of your holidays naked somewhere in the world.

If you cannot go to a naturist resort, you can still enjoy a nakation by spending time a the closest nudist beach or hiking naked as much as you can for instance. You can look for naturist-friendly rentals or secluded place in nature where you will be able to be butt naked. Over the years, I’ve discovered that once you have naturism in mind, it becomes possible to be naked in lots of places, even when they are not naturist per se. Sometimes, it’s just a matter of asking.

Whatever your choice of location, nakation is a great choice of holiday. No laundry, no tan lines, no worries! Travel light and spend a great time naked with your friends and families, because sharing is caring and it funnier!

Nudist idea #6: Speak to your Friends about #Naturism

We all know that for most of us nudists, sharing with non-nudists our love and passion for nudism is not always easy. However, it’s a necessary step for a wider acceptance of nudism in our society. We all should be ambassadors of nudism with our close circle of friends and family.

Image result for nudist friendsBut sharing this can lead to some very awkward moment, as nudity is really taboo for many people. Having said this, we need to acknowledge the fact that naturism is a legal lifestyle in most countries in the world that have a local naturist federation. And I would reiterate the advice to become of member of this federation, as it legitimates your status as a naturist. Of course, you do not need to be a member of your naturist federation to claim you are a naturist, but I personally found it helped.

One way to break the ice during a conversation is to share that you generally swim naked whenever it’s possible as it’s really a wonderful sensation. Most people will agree, and you can go on staying nudity can also be experienced in nature and with other through naturism. It’s then good to share the definition of naturism from the INF: “Naturism is a way of life in harmony with nature characterised by the practice of communal nudity with the intention of encouraging self-respect, respect for others and for the environment”.

Image result for nudist friendsGenerally, after this beginning of conversation, your friends will generally ask if you are a naturist. And the answer will come naturally. The risk? That some of your friends and family will find you are nuts. However, true friends will hopefully not judge you, as you are not forcing them to become naturists. However, if they are not against your views, you may propose that they join you for a day or a week-end at your naturist club, and that you will be very happy to introduce them to naturism, as it’s a wonderful lifestyle that promotes self-respect.

Who knows? If you do not try, you will not get the opportunity to bring new naturists in and to get naked more often. Naturism is an awesome lifestyle and I believe it should be shared widely if we want to live in a more tolerant world.

Nudist Idea #1: join a nudist club

This sounds an obvious one, but not so many nudists are affiliated to their nudist organization and part of their local nudist club or resort. However, this is a great way to be naked more often, learn about naked activities and meet other like-minded people.

There are clubs all over the planet. Sure, some countries do not allow nudity and there are no local nudist federation. However, as I could see over the years, most of my readers are in countries that allow nudism and have nudist federations. The complete list of those federations can be found on the International Naturist Federation website here.

Growing as a nudist

The June edition of Undressed Press, American Association for Nude Recreation newsletter, is out. As usual, it is packed with nice articles about naturists’ preferred lifestyle, naturism. This June edition contains a very nice article from Alix Schuttauf (her father used to be AANR Executive Director, as per his LinkedIn profile) . This young lady explains how she grew as a nudist and what naturism has brought her.

Growing up as a nudist has given me a stronger bond with my family.

This [AANR Youth Summer Camps] helped me tackle and overcome the pressure about negative body image, and gave me a better view of body acceptance.

Because of my upbringing in this body-positive environment, I can still be happy knowing that while I may be judged for my body, it truly doesn’t matter to me.

Naturists all know about the numerous benefits of naturism and social nudity. It’s so wonderful to read it from a young lady who has grown up in a nudist environment. She explains in very simple terms the numerous benefits of being a nudist. Share this with your friends and family who are not (yet) nudists and let them discover this wonderful lifestyle that is naturism.

I encourage you joining your local/national naturist association/federation and if you live in the US, join AANR. You can subscribe to this very insightful newsletter by clicking here and download the June edition from here.

What it feels like to … be a naturist

Another short and sweet article about naturism in the mainstream press, this times, The Herald, from Scotland. In this text, the author describes how he came to naturism, having discovered its benefits. A few quotes from the article:

Everybody was friendly and welcoming

There was a sense of community there (a naturist camp) that you don’t get at an ordinary camp site

You can find if you’re naked and it’s raining, it’s not as bad to walk about naked as it is to walk about with clothes on

What I Learned Spending a Day at a Nudist Resort

A nice article about a nudist experience: What I Learned Spending a Day at a Nudist Resort. Although as a long time naturist a day naked has a different ending. Here are some highlights of this article:

  • Pubic hair is out. Definitely not entirely true but by being naked among other naked people, we realize a lot of people get rid of their pubic hair for sure.
  • Scrotum piercings, however, TOTALLY IN and people are hiding insane tattoos. I think that most nudist don’t care about other people piercing and tattoos, but yes being naked reveal everything.
  • The difference in human bodies is staggering. And this is great for body acceptance!
  • Being told you look younger isn’t a compliment when you’re naked. Not really sure about this one.
  • It’s easier to be friendly when you’re naked. Definitely a great characteristic of nudists.
  • Swingers and fetishists overlap with nudists, but they’re not the same thing and nudity doesn’t equal sex. Social nudism is about carrying your normal life naked. And yes, some nudists are swingers, and some swingers are probably not nudists, but these two groups of people (swingers and nudists) are not the same.
  • Never underestimate the value of sunscreen. Simple truth!
  • Eye contact is critically important. Even more in a nudist environment where staring is a big no-no. And by looking at people in the eye, you see their soul.
  • We naturally want to be clothed. No, not true for everybody, particularly for nudists who have embraced the lifestyle, we naturally want to be naked.

As you will read, even if you disagree with some parts of this article, I think overall it’s a great view on nudism and its many benefits. Enjoy!

Top reasons you should vacation at a nudist resort—at least once

Another mainstream media article that promotes naturism: Top reasons you should vacation at a nudist resort—at least once. Although naturists may not agree with all reasons, there are some good ones to consider. Here they are with my comments (feel free to comment as well):

  1. It’s good to step out of your comfort zone. Definitely a wonderful way to grow personnaly.
  2. You can spice things up with your partner. Well, tying naturism and spicy life is generally what naturists want to avoid. I would thing holidays in general are a great way to spice things up, not naturists holidays in general.
  3. They’re completely and totally private. A good argument to feel totally relaxed naked. Nobody will sneak in and as everybody is naked, it’s a great way to gain body confidence in a safe environment.
  4. They have killer spa services. Once again, not specific to naturism, but some resorts may have great spa.
  5. They’re located in the world’s most beautiful spots. I cannot but agree with this one, whether in the countryside, on a tropical beach or on the short of a lake, most naturists places are wonderful.
  6. Many resorts are all-inclusive. Not sure why it figures here… How is it related to naturism? Really!?
  7. They’re great for mingling. I would add with like minded persons. A great way to meet new naturist friends to expand your naturist time with friends when you’re back home.
  8. You can be a party animal. I feels every other reason can be applied to non naturist holidays. Now partying naked is a whole different story in itself that should be tried and appreciated!
  9. They can be family friendly. Except for the clubs who apply an adult only policy, and those are generally more swingers than naturist, yes, naturism is family friendly and young kids love be nude.
  10. They’re environmentally friendly. Naturists are generally a little bit more nature oriented and environment conscious, so some resorts apply the naturist philosophy to the max.

As you can see, naturists are from all horizons and reasons, good or bad, are many. The one I would like to add is about body confidence and self confidence. Naturism cultivates confidence, makes you feel good as you are and makes you smile. So do not hesitate, do not think too long and jump, book your next nakation!
